Planning to visit Barcelona any time soon?

Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered!

Located on Spain’s Eastern Coast, Barcelona is a very lively cosmopolitan city, renowned for its extraordinary art and architecture, diverse culinary scene, and fantastical landmarks. It is no wonder why it is such a popular destination among tourists from all around the world.

Planning to visit Barcelona any time soon?

Spain is home to very famous artists like Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró, whose work you’ll find in
different museums around the city available to visit. Barcelona is also dotted with Antoni Gaudí’s
work, like the church of La Sagrada Familia. A place you must visit during your stay in Spain.

I highly recommend that you visit during the spring, this is because the weather’s quite pleasant at that
time of the year. But still, somewhat off-season, meaning it is not as crowded as it is during summer.
And your experience will be more enjoyable that way. Barcelona is a city where you’ll find pieces from not only the different parts of Spain but from all parts of the world as well.

Some of the things you should do during your stay in Barcelona:

Being the largest city in the Catalonia region, and the second largest in Spain, saying that Barcelona
is huge would be an understatement. And it is entirely understandable to feel like you might not be
able to do or see everything you had planned on a single visit. The great thing is that the city’s charm
will be enough to convince you to come back in the future. And resume where you left off.

Take Spanish Lessons:

Now, the first thing on your list should be to look into attending some Spanish and Catalan lessons in Barcelona. This will improve your stay hugely, given that you’ll be able to better communicate with the locals
and better understand what’s going on around you.

Besides, Spanish and Catalan lessons are such wonderful languages, they will help you understand the culture and history on a whole other level. Taking a few classes in Spanish/Catalan in Barcelona is a great way to get acquainted with the language and its speakers. And will certainly make for a more unique experience.

Visiting Museums:

Another thing that should be very high up on your list is visiting museums. There are some that are
dedicated to honoring previously mentioned artists like the Picasso Museum and the Joan Miró
Foundation. They house a great number of the artists’ artworks, and there are certain days of the
year where the public has free entry, so keep an eye out for that!

Go Sightseeing!

There is so much sightseeing to be done, with places like The Magic Fountain and the Arc de Triomf.
And they are so full of amazingly rich history.

Go to the Beach!

If you enjoy the outdoors and perhaps going to the beach, then good news! Barcelona has more
than 2 miles of coastline with plenty of beautiful beaches to choose from. And many of these beaches feature little bars where you’ll be able to take a break from the blazing sun and enjoy a snack and a refreshing cocktail!

Some of these bars even play music and become party settings at night. The good vibes will be off the charts, that’s for sure!

Watch the Sunsets!

Watching the city’s beautiful sunsets from a high point while enjoying a cool drink is definitely the
best way to end your evening.

Taking a nice stroll through the Gothic Quarter is one more activity you should not miss out on.
Wandering through Barcelona’s medieval streets is another excellent way to get to know more
about the city’s history. It is also full of trendy bars, nightclubs, and restaurants where you’ll be able
to be delighted by heavenly cuisine.

Enjoy Barcelona’s Nightlife

So, you know, whenever you’re done with the more historical part of your tour, you should go out and enjoy Barcelona’s exciting nightlife. Maybe even make friends with some of the locals who will be glad to show you the proper way to genuinely have fun in Spain.

Why visit Barcelona?

In case you are still not fully convinced Barcelona is one of the world’s best travel destinations, the
fact that there’s so much cultural diversity should be more than enough. Catalans are very proud
people when it comes to their history and culture. They even have their own language, and it had a
great part in the development of their literature, art, and traditions.

Enjoy the Spanish Food

Like in most places, Barcelona’s cultural diversity is well displayed in the different kinds of food you
can be delighted by. Probably their most beloved dish, Tapas is something that you’ll find
everywhere you go. Basically, it’s the idea of serving food in smaller portions so there can be a great
number of different types of food in a single meal. I know, it sounds quite delicious.

Spaniards enjoy Seafood as well!

They are also well known for their fresh seafood, which is, without a doubt, one of the best things
about the city for those who enjoy it. So don’t forget to delight your taste buds by visiting at least
one authentic Spanish seafood restaurant. You can also just pick up some fresh ingredients from one
of their street markets and make an amazing home-cooked meal. It’ll surely make for an
unforgettable experience.

For those Fashion Lovers, shop!

For those of you who are fashion lovers, you will also feel like supporting some of the local small
businesses and artists. You should be on the lookout for small and independent fashion
boutiques. These are well hidden in the less-crowded streets of Barcelona. You’ll find all kinds of
fashionable and cute things. Whether you’re looking for a nice summer dress, some accessories to go
with your party outfit, or the perfect souvenir to remind you of all the memories you made there.
They also have very affordable prices, which will no doubt catch your attention.

We love Barcelona!

Overall, I think Barcelona has something that can appeal to everyone’s taste. Sometimes you just
have to look for it a bit harder but I’m positive that you will find the city so captivating. You’ll never
want to leave and, once you do, you’ll be already planning for your next visit.

Hi, thank you for the article; quite comprehensive! A few suggestions: 1. Barcelona is not the capital of Spain. You have mentioned it so - I suggest you edit it 2. In Barcelona, the locals are proud of their native language which is Catalan and not Spanish! And they do not consider Catalan as a dialect of Spanish. These are two distinct languages and are accorded ‘Official Language‘ status in Barcelona 3. No travel article on Barcelona is deemed complete without a mention of FC Barcelona and soccer! :)

Happy travels!
